Over the years, BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha has earned national and international recognition for its work in spirituality, community service, cultural preservation, education, healthcare and humanitarian relief.
Its achievements have also been recognised through Guinness World Records and prestigious awards across India and overseas.
1. 713 mandirs across five continents
Pramukh Swami Maharaj created and consecrated 713 Hindu mandirs across five continents between April 1971 and November 2007 and was recognised by Guinness World Records.
2. Neasden Mandir enters the record books
The BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Neasden, London, was recognised by Guinness World Records in 2000 as the largest traditional Hindu mandir outside India at the time. Another Guinness World Record certificate was presented to HH Pramukh Swami Maharaj during his visit to the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir in London, recognising a record 1,247 vegetarian dishes offered to the Lord during the Annakut festival marking the Hindu New Year on 27 October 2000.
In 2022, the Neasden Mandir was recognised in the Inspiring Youth category for its Island of Heroes initiative, which engaged more than 40,000 children and involved over 1,200 young BAPS volunteers.
The Neasden Mandir received a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award in 2026, placing it among the top 10 per cent of attractions worldwide. The Neasden Mandir has also received several civic and environmental honours, including Brent in Bloom’s Business/Public Premises award, a Certificate of Excellence from London in Bloom, and the UK’s Pride of Place Award in 2007 after receiving the largest number of votes in a nationwide public poll.
3. Pramukh Swami Maharaj honoured in London
In 2022, the eastern section of Meadow Garth in north-west London was officially renamed ‘Pramukh Swami Road’, honouring the creator of the Neasden Mandir and his contribution to the community.
4. World’s largest bubble-wrap portrait
In 2022, more than 150 BAPS volunteers in the UK spent six months creating a 1,125-square-foot portrait of Pramukh Swami Maharaj using 886 metres of bubble wrap, more than 850,000 bubbles and 320 shades of colour. Guinness World Records recognised it as the largest bubble-wrap portrait of its kind.
5. Largest simultaneous Hindu text recital
During Mahant Swami Maharaj’s 92nd birth celebrations, 12,723 child scholars gathered in Vadodara to recite Sanskrit verses from Satsang Diksha. The event earned a Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Simultaneous Hindu Text Recital’.
6. Abu Dhabi Mandir receives Tolerance Award
The BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi received the prestigious Tolerance Award at the 3rd International Dialogue of Civilizations and Tolerance Conference in 2026. The honour recognised its contribution to harmony, dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
7. Leicester Mandir wins lighting award
The BAPS Mandir in Leicester received the British Astronomical Association’s Good Lighting Award for its environmentally responsible, sky-friendly lighting.
8. Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service
In 2009, the BAPS Children’s Forum received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest national honour for voluntary groups, recognising its work in education, social welfare, environmental awareness and community service.
9. Recognition for BAPS centres in Australia
BAPS centres in Australia have received honours including the City of Wanneroo Australia Day Community Group Award and the La Trobe Australia Day Award 2020 for their community outreach and service initiatives.
10. Pramukh Swami Maharaj honoured in Preston
In 2017, HH Pramukh Swami Maharaj received a Certificate of Distinction from the City of Preston for his spiritual, humanitarian and charitable contribution to the city.
11. Vadil Seva Kendra recognised for elderly care
The Vadil Seva Kendra, an elderly welfare centre run by the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha that supports people over 65, which supports more than 500 elderly people in Brent and Croydon with around 80 volunteers, received the Health and Wellbeing Award at the 2024 London Dangoor Awards.
