Japan is looking to investment opportunities in auto component manufacturing, small and medium scale sector, infrastructure projects, consumer durables and machinery in Gujarat. This comes at a time when Japan is looking to strengthen its cultural relation with Gujarat.“Honda and Suzuki are setting up their plants in Gujarat. This could lead to a creation of auto component cluster in the area where these plants are coming up,” said Yosuke Takagi, Japanese state minister of economy, trade and investment.

The growing interest of Japanese companies in Gujarat could be gauged from the fact that number of Japanese companies operating the state has almost doubled in the last one year to 26. What's more, Japanese SMEs are also planning to invest in Gujarat. Another area where Japan can pitch is in Mumbai-Ahmedabad HiSpeed Raid Corridor with its bullet trains. Japan is also keen on Ahmedabad Metro rail project. Mizuho Bank and Toray Industries India signed an agreement with iNDEXTb, while Japan's ministry of economy, trade and investment inked an MoU with Gujarat government.
