The president of German industry association Verband Deutscher Maschinen und Anlagenbau (VDMA), Reinhold Festge, met with Ambassador Gurjit Singh and hinted at wanting to enhance engagement with India. Germany's apex mechanical engineering industrial association representing over 3,100 mostly medium-sized companies in the capital goods industry, making it the largest industry association in Europe.
Festge and Singh discussed means of seeking convergence on National schemes like Make in India, and Skill India. Gurjit assured Indian government's support for facilitating of investments by VDMA member companies in India. Also discussed was the association's involvement in the Make in India Mittlestand programme; a market entry facilitation programme run by the Embassy of India, Berlin, to ease entry of German Mittlestand companies into the Indian market.
Festge along with Dr Ulrich Ackermann, MD, Foreign Trade, and Oliver Wack, Foreign Relations Division, VDMA, are set to visit India from the 19th to 23rd September, 2016. The delegation is scheduled to visit New Delhi and Pune. They will hold high level meetings with governmental representatives.
