Thala Ajith's 'Viswasam' has turned out to be the first choice for the Tamil audiences over Rajinikanth's 'Petta' at the box office. This was expected to happen as Thala was coming after the gap over a year on the silver screen while Rajinikanth was last seen two months back in Shankar's '2.0.' Talking about the collections of two big Pongal releases 'Petta' and 'Viswasam,' the Siva directorial venture has grossed £12.5 million in 8 days while the Karthik Subbaraj's film grossed £10 million on Sunday.

However, Rajinikanth's 'Petta' has performed better than 'Viswasam' in the international circuits. Nayanthara features opposite Thala Ajith in 'Viswasam'. The film marks the fourth collaboration between the director and Ajith after 'Vedhalam,' 'Veeram' and 'Vivegam.' It also features Vivek, Thambi Ramaiah, Yogi Babu, Bose Venkat and Kovai Sarala in pivotal roles.

On the professional front, Thala Ajith will soon start the shooting of Amitabh's 'Pink' remake. The film will be directed by Vinoth and Boney Kapoor will bankroll it. Shoojit Sircar, the producer of the film earlier confirmed the news of Tamil remake. “Yes, ‘Pink’ is being remade in Tamil. I don’t think I will direct it, but the team has said that they will show the film to me once it’s ready. As much as I love what Aniruddha did with 'Pink,' I respect the fact that the makers in Tamil want to have their own interpretation of the story".
