Director Karthik Subbaraj of 'Pizza' and 'Jigarthanda' fame is in fresh trouble over his latest Tamil work 'Iraivi'. The Tamil Film Producers Council have expressed their chagrin at a character portrayed in the movie. Arul, played by SJ Suryah, is a director who resorts to drink and destruction after a movie producer refuses to release his picture.

Also featured is a gory scene where the character is bludgeoned to death by Arul's close pal in the movie, which is deemed as a reflection of Subbaraj's anger against 'Jigarthanda' producer Kathiresan. Vice president of the council, Thenappan said that original story was changed. "What Subbaraj said initially and what was finally emerged are two different things. He even hesitated to show the progress of the post-production work to his producer," he said. Also upset was one of the movie's presenters, KE Gnanavelraja, who said, "Unlike others, Karthik Subbaraj doesn't know the pain of becoming a director as he never worked as an assistant to anyone. Now with 'Iraivi', the director has not only overshot the budget but also put the producer in an insecure state."
