Actor and director Sasikumar has secured the Best Actor award at the annual Chennai International Film Festival for his performance in the film Tourist Family.
Directed by Abhishan Jeevinth, the film follows the emotional journey of a Sri Lankan Tamil migrant who moves to India due to financial hardship. In addition to the acting honours, the production also took home the prestigious Best Film award at the ceremony held in December 2025.
Following the announcement, acclaimed director Bala penned a heartfelt letter to Sasikumar, praising his “fighting spirit” and natural acting abilities. In the letter, Bala described Sasikumar as a complete artist and made a significant request for him to return to the director’s chair.
Sasikumar responded to the tribute on social media, expressing his deep gratitude to Bala for the recognition and promising to fulfil the director’s wish for a new project soon. The film, which also features Simran and Yogi Babu, has been widely lauded for its portrayal of humanity and kindness, marking a significant milestone in Sasikumar's long-standing cinematic career.
