Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan' to go on floors soon

After the critical and commercial success of Mani Ratnam's last-helmed film, the ensemble gangster epic 'Chekka Chivandha Vaanam', the shooting plan of 'Ponniyin Selvan' has been revealed. The ace director is currently busy with the pre-production process of his upcoming flick which is a silver screen adaptation of the five-part Tamil novella written by Kalki Krishnamurthy.

Produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, the film has a star cast that includes Aishwarya Rai playing as one of the leads. Other members of the star-cast include 'Chiyaan' Vikram, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, R.Parthiepan, Ashwin Kakumanu apart from Aishwarya. The film is jointly scripted by Mani Ratnam and 'Kaatrin Mozhi', 'Kurangu Bommai' fame actor Kumaravel. The cinematography of the film will be handled by the ace cinematographer, Ravi Varman.

It is now learnt that the team is planning to fly to Thailand a week before the film starts rolling on December 12th. The shoot is being planned for 40 days. Looks like the ace director has indeed found a great place in Thailand as it is also popular for its exotic locations!
