Award for Tamil films resumes

Tamil Nadu government's award for Tamil films have been resumed by the AIADMK government after several representatives from the film industry debated in its favour along with some MLAs. The Tamil Nadu State Awards for the years 2009 and 2014 have been announced and awards will be given under 30 different categories.

Vikram won Best Actor of 2009, for his stellar performance in 'Kandasamy', top hero Vijay Sethupathi won Best Villain for 'Sundarapandian', and Aishwarya Rajesh won Best Actress for 'Kaaka Muttai'. Nayanthara scored Best Actress of the year 2013, for 'Raja Rani', while Sivakarthikeyan won Best Actor (Special Prize) of 2011 for his debut feature film 'Marina'.
