Anushka Shetty turns into a mute artist

Anushka Shetty and R Madhvan starrer multilingual thriller - 'Nishabdam' is one of the most awaited film this year. The release of the first look poster introduces Anushka as Sakshi who is a mute artist in the film. Directed by Hemant Madhukar, the film will release in Telugu, English, Malayalam, Hindi and Tamil. The film also stars R Madhavan, Anjali, Shalini Pandey and Hollywood actor Michael Madsen in crucial roles and they recently wrapped up shoot in Seattle.

Anushka plays a deaf and mute character while Madhavan plays her husband in the film which revolves around the murder of a key character and the subsequent investigation to find the killer. There were reports earlier that the actress will play and deaf and mute character and looks like the mute part was true. The film’s twitter page reads, “Her Art speaks, but she can't..Presenting you #Sakshi from @nishabdham.”

Recent reports have revealed Hollywood actor Michel Madsen will also act in the movie. In the film, Anjali will be seen playing a cop for the first time in her career. “Unlike the cop roles we play in Indian films, this role required me take special classes to understand how cops behave and work in the US. From their body language to the way they speak and hold their guns, it was all a very new experience and I really enjoyed prepping for this character,” Anjali was quoted as saying.

The film sees cinematography by Shaneil Deo, with music by Gopi Sunder. It has also been revealed that Anushka learnt sign language and have shed a lot of weight to make her portrayal more authentic in the film. Originally being shot in Tamil and Telugu, the makers also plan to release the film in Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. If everything goes as per the schedule, the film might hit the screens this December.

Meanwhile, Anushka may reunite with filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon for 'Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa 2', a sequel to his hit 2010 romantic drama 'Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa.'
