Amala Akkineni, who made her digital debut with the web series 'High Priestess' this year, is all set to make her comeback in Kollywood. The senior actor will star in the untitled Tamil-Telugu bilingual, featuring Sharwanand and Ritu Varma in the lead roles. The senior actress is thrilled to be a part of the project and shared her excitement on the micro-blogging site Twitter.

Amala shared pictures with her team of the movie which has recently hit the floors. She captioned the image as, “It's been heartwarming playing Amma to Sharwanand. Working in a Tamil/Telugu bilingual after many years.” Directed by debutant Shree Karthik, known for his short films 'Vyugam' and 'Childhood Diaries', the shooting of the film is underway in Hyderabad.

While Amala is excited about the project, it is reported that she gave it a nod only because of the importance of her character in the movie as it is not a regular mother character. Apart from Amala, Ritu, Sharwanand, this yet to be titled project will also star Ravi Raghavendra, Nasser, Sathish and Ramesh Thilak in pivotal roles. The movie, which was originally written for Vijay Deverakonda, will hit the screens next year.

Meanwhile, the veteran actress has no plans to return to acting completely as she is happy with her other projects. Explaining her decision, Amala stated, “I am not looking at full-time acting. I wear many hats and I am extremely satisfied with what I am doing right now.” Amala’s last Tamil movie was 'Karpoora Mullai' (1991). She was also seen in Dulquer Salmaan’s 'Karwaan' in 2018.
