The 15th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) celebrated Indian cinema with a grand award ceremony, honouring exceptional talent and films. RRR star Ram Charan and Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman received the top accolades for their contributions to Indian cinema. Kartik Aaryan won Best Actor for his role in ‘Chandu Champion,’ while Kabir Khan and Nithilan Swaminathan shared the Best Director award for their work on ‘Chandu Champion’ and the Vijay Sethupathi-starrer ‘Maharaja,’ respectively.
In addition to the major awards, Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s ‘12th Fail’ was recognised for its inspiring narrative, while Kiran Rao’s ‘Laapataa Ladies’ was honoured for its innovative storytelling. Other accolades included Excellence in Cinema awarded to AR Rahman, Ambassador of Indian Art & Culture to Ram Charan, Equality in Cinema to ‘Dunki,’ Diversity Champion to Rasika Dugal, Disruptor in Cinema to Adarsh Gourav, and Breakout Film of the Year to ‘Amar Singh Chamkila,’ among others.
