Actor Deepika Padukone has been regularly vocal about her battle with depression. She joined the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, recently on the latter’s podcast ‘Archetypes’ to discuss activism and mental health. Deepika went on to become the face of mental well-being advocacy in Bollywood after revealing in 2015 that she suffered from depression and sought treatment for it.
Speaking on the podcast, she recalled the skepticism with which her comments were received by some people. Deepika said that this was expected, however, largely speaking, people welcomed her decision to speak her truth. She said, “It feels like this huge burden was lifted off their shoulders. That finally, someone acknowledged the fact that okay, there is something that is such a thing as mental illness but with everything good that you do they’ll always be sort of that.”
She added that as difficult as the period was, she is glad she experienced it because she has come out a stronger person. Deepika now said she values the little things in life, like hugging her sister, or the “late night conversations” she has with her husband Ranveer Singh. The actress also quashed all divorce rumours by gushing about Singh. She said, “My husband was at a music festival for a week and he’s just come back. So, he’s gonna be happy to see my face.”
At Paris Fashion Week
The ’83’ actress was the moment in Paris this year, as she walked the ramp for Louis Vuitton. The actress joined the likes of Hollywood A-listers like Alicia Vikander and Antoine Arnault, Ana De Armas and others. She was seen in a grey mini-dress with bold lips. She was accompanied by her mother Ujjala and her father Prakash Padukone.
Deepika's mother looked equally stunning and made a style statement in a white shirt, trousers and suit. While her father chose classy yet casual and wore a black sweater over a white t-shirt. She was appointed the brand ambassador of the luxury brand at the fashion week. She’s also recently been announced as the brand ambassador for jewellery maker Cartier.
