'Dangal' actor Sanya Malhotra has had a good year at the box office with her last two films 'Badhaai Ho' and 'Pataakha'. Her upcoming is 'Photograph' opposite Nawazuddin Siddique, which is helmed by 'Lunchbox' director Ritesh Batra. The movie is set to be screened at the Berlin International Film Festival. Sanya has now been listed as one of the five people in 'Berlinale Breakouts : 5 Talents to Watch'. The list also includes four other stars from around the world.
According to the publication, Sanya’s performance as a stranger who is convinced by a struggling photographer to pose as his fiancee may “be her chance to cross over internationally”. 'Photograph' premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and will hit theatres on 8 March. According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Caryn James, “for anyone who appreciates his (Batra) understated style, 'Photograph' is a satisfying, unswoony romance”.
Sanya said she had started shooting for the film soon after she wrapped 'Dangal'. She said the film is close to her heart for various reasons, one of being Nawazuddin himself.
