Bollywood and Telugu cinema star Rana Daggubati has openly spoken out against Mumbai's intrusive paparazzi culture, following a viral video that showed him visibly upset with photographers. Daggubati expressed his profound frustration, labelling the paparazzi's behaviour as ‘annoying’ and an unwelcome invasion of his personal space.
"I didn't call them. I don't like it. I don't like them in my personal space, and I have been very vocal about it," Rana asserted. He recounted instances where photographers would appear outside his home, despite his polite requests for them to respect his privacy, and their persistent presence at airports. This relentless pursuit, he stated, is ‘pretty annoying’.
Drawing a stark contrast, Rana highlighted the significant difference between the Bollywood paparazzi culture and that of the Telugu film industry. He noted that in the South, privacy is respected, suggesting a more restrained approach to celebrity interactions. Elaborating on the airport incident that sparked the viral video, Rana explained, "I think that in the process of avoiding them, I dropped my phone because there were so many people, and they were filming that too." He concluded with a pointed message to the paparazzi: "I mean, make content with someone who’s paying you and calling you for it. Make it with the ones who want you to be there. Shoot people who are happy to have you around." His comments underscore a growing sentiment among celebrities regarding the need for boundaries and respect in their public lives.
