Actor Priyanka Chopra has unveiled the cover of ‘Empress: The Definitive Biography of Sridevi’, an upcoming biography chronicling the late actor’s five-decade career and lasting legacy.
Written by Dhiraj Kumar and published by Westland Books, the book traces Sridevi’s journey from child actor to Indian cinema’s first pan-Indian female superstar, across five languages and more than 300 films.
Chopra revealed the cover on social media on Sridevi’s birth anniversary, paying tribute to the late actor. The biography explores Sridevi’s rise in a male-dominated industry, her landmark performances and influence on generations of audiences and actors. It features seven forewords, contributions from Amitabh Bachchan and Javed Akhtar, and over 150 rare photographs.
Westland Books publisher Karthika V K called Dhiraj Kumar’s biography of Sridevi a privilege to publish, while Kumar said documenting the late actor’s five-decade career across five languages and more than 300 films was a rare honour. He thanked her husband Boney Kapoor and several film personalities for their support and contributions.
The book features tributes from Amitabh Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Brahmanandam and Anees Bazmee, celebrating Sridevi’s talent and star power. The actor, who died in 2018 aged 54, starred in several acclaimed films, including ‘Mr India’, ‘Chandni’, ‘Lamhe’, 'English Vinglish' and 'Mom’. Empress will be released across India in late 2026.
