Ayan Mukherji's 'Brahmastra' has been hitting the headlines for its extravagant starcast, including Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and Alia Bhatt. The mega-budget action-adventure fantasy film also features Telugu mega star Akkineni Nagarjuna in a key role. It is known that Ranbir plays the character of a boy-next-door named Shiva, who emits fire from hand while Alia plays his love interest. Now, the character details of Nagarjuna has been revealed as he is playing the role of an archaeologist in the film.

A source close to the film said, “Nagarjuna’s character, along with his students, undertakes an expedition to restore an ancient temple along the banks of the Ganga. “An important event leads Shiva and Isha to Nagarjuna.” Mouni Roy and Saurav Gurjar, who play lead antagonists in the film also come in this crucial track. “The adventure kicks-off after all of them come face-to-face in Varanasi. A high-octane action sequence featuring them was shot earlier in the year.” Interestingly, Shah Rukh Khan also plays a cameo in this film and despite being a guest appearance, his role is important as it will take forward the journey of Shiva.

Amitabh has collaborated with Ranbir for the first time. The cine icon earlier praised Ranbir in an interview, saying, "His face is God's blessing. He doesn't seem to make any effort to convey emotions whereas I've to constantly struggle to express myself and ask the director to help me." 'Brahmastra' is produced by Dharma Productions and Fox Star Studios. The film was supposed to release on August 15 this year but due to delay of VFX and shooting portions, it has now been postponed to summer 2020. It marks the third collaboration between Ranbir and Ayan Mukerji after 'Wake Up Sid' and 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani'.
