Actress Kajol has penned the foreword of a biopic celebrating the late actress Sridevi. The book, Sridevi: The Eternal Screen Goddess, has been written by author-screenwriter Satyarth Nayak, and has the approval of Sridevi's husband, producer Boney Kapoor.

Kajol took to Twitter and said that she is honoured to pay such a tribute. "Honoured and happy to have the opportunity to pen a foreword for a book celebrating the iconic Sridevi. It was my way of paying a personal tribute to India's first female superstar. Congratulations @BoneyKapoor, the author @SatyarthNayak and the @PenguinIndia team." Kajol hoped that Sridevi fans across the world would love the book, that explores the five-decade long journey of the actress from child star to the immortal legend she is now. "I have grown up watching Sridevi’s superstardom on film-sets and her magic on the big screen. She is an institution of acting and will forever remain my most favourite icon," said Kajol in a statement.

Nayak also said that Kajol is the perfect choice to write the foreword. "Kajol is an industry kid and has had first-hand experience of Sridevi’s glory in the 80s and 90s. Also as one of our finest artistes, Kajol has keenly observed and emulated Sridevi over the years. All this gets beautifully reflected in her foreword. It’s a truly heartfelt piece, symbolic of a generation of actresses who were inspired by the legendary aura of Sridevi, he added.

The book tracks Sridevi's journey from the child star to redefining the heroine of Indian cinema, that everyone knows today. The book is expected to hit the stands in November. Sridevi reigned the Bollywood box-office in the eighties. Sridevi died at the age of 54 in Dubai, after a case of accidental drowning on February 24. She had gone to attend the wedding of her nephew Mohit Marwah.
