Shimla police has filed an FIR against veteran actor Jeetendra, based on a sexual abuse complaint filed by his cousin. In her complaint, the victim alleged that the abuse took place around 47 years ago, when Jeetu was around 28 years old, and she was 18. She said the actor took her father's permission to take her to a film shoot and it was at the hotel that he allegedly sexually abused hewr.

The victim, who has not been named, will record her statement before a magistrate. She will also have to provide any proof that she has about her stay in the hotel. Shimla Superintendent of Police (SP) Umapati Jamwal said the case will be investigated as per the old provisions of the section 354 IPC, considering the law prevalent during the time that the crime took place as claimed. The victim has said that she decided to speak out after the demise of her parents, who would have been shattered if they had known about the alleged sexual abuse of their daughter at the hands of their superstar nephew.

Jeetendra's lawyer Rizwan Siddiquee has however, denied all claims, calling them “baseless, ridiculous and fabricated”. He had claimed that the complaint was “nothing but a miserable effort made by a jealous competitor to disrupt the business activities of my client.”
