Actor Vikrant Massey, known for his role in the sleeper hit "12th Fail," emphasised that financial considerations will not dictate his future choices. He expressed a desire to continue portraying stories about ordinary people. "12th Fail," directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, garnered significant attention through word-of-mouth, earning close to Rs 60 crore globally. Its success highlighted a trend where mid-budget films, often overlooked for theatrical releases, found significant audience appreciation.

In an interview with media, Vikrant said that the film’s success shouldn’t create a scenario where he misuses the privilege that he has been given. “The idea is to not misuse your privilege. Today, we sit in a place of privilege. Always wanted to act in the movies, and here we are, working with some of the best people. But the idea is to go out there and represent the common man, and not to misuse your privilege,” he said.

Vikrant continued, “It’s so influential… You can’t take your privilege for granted. You can’t get complacent, you can’t believe, even for a moment, (that you’ve made it). The idea is to be as honest and hardworking as you can be… One very basic example would be to not go out there and do a film for the heck of money. I don’t think I can do that, it doesn’t come naturally to me.”

Vikrant got his start in the television industry, where he established himself and emerged as a highly paid actor. He gave it up to start a career in films around a decade ago, but after many stops and stars, delivered his first box office success as a leading man only last year.
