The story of a small-town girl making a global impact has always been inspiring. Viidhii Upadhyay, 29, who hails from Rajkot in India’s Gujarat state is someone who is doing it right.
Viidhii’s Original Song ‘We Are One’ featuring 100 official global languages from 250 countries, islands and dependencies across the planet is achieving some of the highest honours. The song that was written, composed and sung by Viidhii has now been recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records for ‘Most languages featured on a music single’ after recognition by the India Book of Records & Asia Book of Records. According to Viidhii, “We Are One is a Global Anthem for Peace advocating the message of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. It is my effort to remind every global citizen to acknowledge and celebrate the oneness we all share as Humanity.” Viidhii dreams of performing the song at the United Nations, G20 summit and World Expos.
Viidhii has received music in heredity from her Businessman Father Mr Shailesh Upadhyaya, who himself is a Musician. Viidhii’s first Television performance was on Doordarshan at the age of just 3 years. So far she has rendered her voice as a Playback Singer in 4 Movies and 6 TV Serials and Web series. Viidhii is not only a Gold Medalist in Indian classical Music (Vocals) but also an expert in playing the guitar, piano, keyboard, djembe, melodica, dhol, dholak, duff and other percussions. She has performed and represented India at Dubai Expo 2020 and Global Village Dubai
According to her mother Mrs Bharti Upadhyaya, “As a child, Viidhii used to make songs on any word we gave her spontaneously. This was as early as she started to speak. We were amazed by her talent and have encouraged her since then. After taking formal training in Rajkot, she has also attended several courses in Mumbai including Diploma in Music Production. So far she has released 9 original songs.”
