Tributes have poured in for Alpa Ashishbhai Shah, a respected tourism industry veteran, who passed away peacefully on Sunday (15) after a valiant battle with cancer.
Shah served as Tour Team Leader at Citibond Travel, where she was widely admired for her expertise, professionalism, and warm personality. Born in Mombasa, she began her career at Equatoria Travel, swiftly establishing herself as a skilled travel specialist. Following Citibond Travel's acquisition of Equatoria in 2006, Shah transitioned seamlessly into the new organisation, specialising in tours across South and East Africa.
Over the years, she progressed to the role of Tour Team Leader, becoming a trusted figure in the industry. Her dedication and kind demeanour earned her the respect and affection of colleagues and clients alike. Even after being diagnosed with cancer in 2019, Shah faced her illness with remarkable strength and positivity, inspiring those around her until her passing on 15 December.
Hitesh Mehta, Managing Director of Citibond Travel, shared an emotional tribute stating, “It is a very sad time for Alpa’s family and her Citibond family. She was a one of a kind and will be immensely missed by all of us.
“We are blessed to have had Alpa as part of our lives, and though we grieve her loss, we will always remember her with fondness and love. She will forever remain in our hearts.
“We pray for her family during this very difficult time.”
Alpa Shah is survived by her husband and two daughters. Her legacy as a trailblazer in the tourism industry and a cherished colleague and friend will live on.
