Lord Bhikhu Parekh hosted the launch of Dr Pulak Sahay's poetry book ‘A Bouquet of Poems’ at the House of Lords on April 29, 2025. The event was attended by distinguished guests from the UK and abroad, including Prof. Colm O'Morain, Emeritus Professor at Trinity College, Dublin, Dr Roberto Guiloff, Emeritus Professor of Neurology, and renowned cardiologist Dr Peter Wilmshurst from Shrewsbury.
The launch featured engaging discussions between Lord Parekh, Prof. O'Morain, Prof. Guiloff, and Dr Sahay on the book's poems. Dr Guiloff and Dr Sahay also recited several poems, which were well received by the guests. A heartwarming aspect of the event was that all proceeds from the book’s sale were donated to the CARD Charity.
The Campaign Against Reflux Disease (CARD), a registered UK medical charity founded by Dr Pulak Sahay in 2010, aims to raise awareness about the impact of Reflux Disease, which affects millions globally. The charity educates the public on lifestyle modifications to prevent and manage this growing issue, which in some cases can lead to the life-threatening complication of oesophageal adenocarcinoma, responsible for over 8,000 deaths annually in the UK. Early detection and prevention of Reflux can reduce these deaths by nearly 1,000 each year.
Dr Pulak Sahay's book, ‘A Bouquet of Poems’, is available worldwide on Amazon. The book not only offers readers a creative experience but also supports a noble charity focused on preventive medicine and public education. It was emphasised that everyone should help promote the book to spread its message and support its cause.
