Thousands gathered in Leicester over the weekend to celebrate the birthday of Hindu god Lord Hanuman, following eight days of festivities.
The event, held at Shree Hanuman Temple on Melton Road near Rushey Fields, drew devotees and dignitaries from across the region. Blessed food was offered to the deity and shared among attendees, with devotional recitals held throughout the day.
Rajesh Patel, Secretary of Shree Hanuman Temple said, “The highlight of the celebrations was Lord Hanuman’s birthday on Saturday, when we welcomed a record number of devotees. A special puja was performed, featuring a beautiful display of traditional Indian sweets, with devotees patiently offering prayers and seeking blessings. Thousands joined in the prayers, bhajans, and festivities to honour Lord Hanuman’s devotion, strength, and compassion.”
