Lord Karan Bilimoria has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow at a recent diploma ceremony.

He is the Founding Chairman of the UK India Business Council and serves as a Deputy Lieutenant for both the City of London and Greater London.

Reflecting on the honour, Lord Bilimoria said, “It’s a dream come true to be recognised by such a prestigious institution. Growing up in India, I admired doctors with FRCS Glasgow after their names—now I’m at the very place they came from.”

Lord Bilimoria, a pioneering British Indian business leader, was among the first visiting entrepreneurs at the University of Cambridge and the first Zoroastrian Parsi to join the House of Lords in 2006. A former Chancellor of Thames Valley University and the first Indian-born Chancellor of a Russell Group university (Birmingham), he co-chairs the B20 South Africa Digital Transformation Taskforce and the All-Party Parliamentary Group for International Students, and is President of the UK Council for International Student Affairs.

In 2022, Lord Bilimoria became a trustee of Policy Exchange and joined the board of the International Chamber of Commerce UK, later becoming Chair in January 2025. He was awarded the Honorary Fellowship by Professor Hany Eteiba in recognition of his contributions to education and business.

Professor Eteiba praised Bilimoria’s commitment to global education and expressed hope for future collaboration. The honour was presented during a ceremony celebrating new Fellows and Members across the medical profession.
