BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha won the Health & Well-Being award at the London Dangoor Awards 2025 for its impactful BAPS wellNESS project, which addresses health disparities in British South Asians, including diabetes, heart disease, and mental health issues. The initiative promotes sustainable lifestyle habits that support physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
The London Dangoor Awards recognize unsung heroes within London’s faith communities, celebrating projects that strengthen society through service and collaboration, in partnership with the Greater London Lieutenancy’s Council on Faith.
The award was presented at the Royal Society of Medicine by Dr David Dangoor CBE, founder of the Dangoor Education foundation, alongside Bushra Nasir CBE DL, Chair of His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Greater London’s Council on Faith.
Inspired by His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, the BAPS wellNESS project focuses on four pillars of health: Nutrition, Exercise, Stress Management, and Sleep. It empowers individuals to develop sustainable habits, integrating evidence-based guidance with spiritual wisdom for a more balanced life.
Over 30 volunteers contributed to expert-led talks, workshops, and resources like journals and cookbooks. The initiative has reached thousands through in-person activities and digital resources, with webinars helping participants adopt healthier habits and positive lifestyle changes.
Speaking on behalf of BAPS, lead volunteer Dr Tanvi Raghvani said, “This award belongs to the volunteers who help others. BAPS wellNESS empowers the community to take small steps toward better health and a more purposeful life.”
BAPS London has long been recognised for its contributions to health, elderly care, women, children, and youth, earning awards such as the 2024 Elderly Welfare Centre, 2023 International Women’s Day, 2022 Island of Heroes, 2020 Connect & Care, 2019 Community Project of the Year, and 2018 Care Home Visits.
